About

In 2013, still a University Student, Tom decided to set up a racing blog as a way to share his views on the upcoming Cheltenham Festival with family and friends.

On the first day of the 2013 Festival, Tom went through the card tipping all 6 winners on the day and the rest, as they say, is history. A few radio interviews later culminating in a live interview on Sky News, the Turf Talk blog had achieved a ‘Viral’ status. Helped, of course, by tipping a few more nice winners during that week including Medinas in the Coral Cup at 33/1.

Tom continues to write on the bigger meetings when time allows and the blog is now entering it’s fourth successive year covering the Cheltenham Festival. Thanks to a bit of luck and a few good days punting here and there Tom has grown the blog into a respected resource with over 8K Twitter followers (@turftalktom) and averaging about 120K visitors to the site per annum.

Having graduated from Trinity College, Tom took a job in Marketing with a bookmaker, but remains a punter first and foremost! He also enjoys dabbling in bloodstock where time and money allows and reckons he’s got the winner of the Mares Hurdle 2021 at home.

Tom is not, nor has ever claimed to be a professional gambler, but is simply just a racing fan with a goal to try and get more young people interested in the game where possible. The winners are coincidental.
